We let the land teach us. Its contours, trees, history all contain messages that can shape development. We read the land with respect in order to create something thoughtful and beautiful. We see the land in a very unique way, not as a commodity to be exploited, but as the cornerstone of all our work. We design with a 100-year vision in mind. We create communities that will remain vibrant, diverse and life-giving for generations.
Picture this: wide sidewalks filled with neighbors walking their dogs, kids on bikes and community gardens. A retired couple talks on a front porch swing. A single parent works from her studio apartment. A young couple teaches their children how to play soccer. Perhaps houses open up to park spaces in the center of the neighborhood or connect to a network of trails, boulders and streams nearby. House sizes are varied because life is varied; there’s a place for the young family, middle-aged couple, single or divorced adult and retirees. Different lot sizes reflect a playful diversity while also creating a practical way for families and individuals to mature through different housing needs as they age. Such neighborhoods don’t happen by accident. They must be created with intention, care and love.
You will never see the same project from us. We approach and craft a thousand different landscapes in a thousand different ways. We are Thousand Hills Company.
